LOCAL SCUBA DIVING SITES
Ambergris is the largest and most popular of the offshore Cayes, with 25 miles of Belize’s spectacular barrier reef sitting less than a mile offshore. The calm waters are full of spur-and-groove reefs with deep canyons, swim throughs, and reef cuts. With visibility up to 100 feet, the coral reef is teeming with abundant and colourful life. Depth ranges on the barrier reef are between 50 to 200 feet of water, with dives averaging 60 feet with 45 minutes of bottom time. Divers can see a great variety of soft and hard corals and many different species of swimming and crawling marine life such as the Nassau Grouper, Angel Fish, Lobster, Crabs, Morey Eels, Rays, Nurse Sharks, occasional Reef Sharks and Turtles.
Tres Cocos Cut
A short boat ride takes you to a stunning reef, where canyons begin at 40 feet and extend into deeper waters. With minimal currents and abundant marine life, it’s perfect for underwater photography.
Paradise Canyons
This dive features finger canyons at depths of 60 -70 feet, teeming with marine life and beautiful formations.
Tackle Box Canyons
A diver’s favorite, Tackle Box Canyons features narrow canyons and tunnels at depths of 66 - 100 feet, ideal for underwater photography with its stunning formations. Divers often encounter Caribben reef sharks, adding excitement to the dive. The unique combination of dramatic underwater toporgraphy and vibrant marine life makes this a must-visit dive site.
Esmeralda Canyons
This dive site is renowned for tis guaranteed sightings of nurse sharks and Caribbean Reef sharks, making it a thrilling experience for shark enthusiasts. Just 7 minutes from Ambergris Caye, this site offers stunning diving at depths of 40 - 110 feet. Divers can explore coral-covered canyons and encounter jacks, groupers, parrotfish, barracudas and nurse sharks, along with frequent sightings of turtles and moray eels.
cypress canyons
At 50 -100 feet, coral spurs and grooves create mushroom-shaped formations. Ideal for macro photography with clear visibility and vibrant marine life.
Hol Chan Marine reserve
